{"id":136,"date":"2012-09-28T15:30:25","date_gmt":"2012-09-28T13:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.doctor-license.com\/blog\/?p=136"},"modified":"2013-10-13T12:46:22","modified_gmt":"2013-10-13T10:46:22","slug":"smart-software-compliance-remediation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.doctor-license.com\/blog\/?p=136","title":{"rendered":"Smart Software Compliance Remediation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The resaon to enter into larger scale SAM programs is to reduce non-compliance with a high probability. 100% assurance is not achievable with today&#8217;s complex licensing rules.<\/p>\n<p>But <strong>before<\/strong> investing heavily into an internal admin program, CIOs might look to the issue from the other side: <em>How do we manage when caught non-compliant?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is where vendor management comes into play, both from a general and from a contractual perspective:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Does my vendor <strong>value me<\/strong> as a customer and my brand?<\/li>\n<li>Is there additional license demand that can be used as a<strong> lever<\/strong> in case of non-compliance?<\/li>\n<li>Have I negotiated the software verification rules to determine when non-compliance occurs <strong>un-intentional<\/strong>?<\/li>\n<li>Can I prove to my vendor that I am <strong>not deliberately <\/strong>lagging with my controls?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>These 4 questions give you directions to establish the notion of being a good guy, even if you do not have the best SAM program in place. Or if you rather focus on improving the license price, when using optimization tools like <a title=\"Bringing light to the license jungle!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.license12.com\" target=\"_blank\">License12<\/a>.
